Christian Counseling

You’ve Already Rehearsed the First Session

In one version, you mention that you’ve been praying about this and watch the therapist write something down without looking up.

In the other, you get a verse, a reminder to have more faith, and the same question you walked in with.

One of those asks you to leave your faith at the door.

The other asks you to leave the hardest part of it there.

You Feel Guilty for Still Struggling

You love God.
You pray about the anxiety, the grief, the relationship, the thing you can’t get past.
And somewhere a voice says that if your faith were stronger, this would be easier by now.
So you try harder. And tell fewer people.

Say the Thing You’ve Been Editing

You’re angry at God and not sure you’re allowed to be.

You did everything you were taught to do and still feel this way.

Say both of those out loud in here without paying for it later.

What Your Faith Does in Here Is Your Call

I’m a Christian, and I have my own questions about organized religion.

That’s exactly why I won’t tell you what yours is supposed to look like.

Prayer, Scripture, and biblically based resources come into your therapy when you bring them in.

When you’d rather leave them out of it, we work without them and nothing is missing.

You’ll Stop Wondering What’s Wrong With You

The question you walked in with is, “Why do I feel this way?”

So I explain what’s actually happening, in plain language, because understanding it makes it easier to change.

The protection your mind built years ago is still on duty, and it has never once been a measure of your faith.

Then we work on the thoughts that run the show, and on saying what you mean without the argument that usually follows.

Your Faith and Your Healing Stop Competing

The part of you that prays and the part of you that hurts stop being two separate appointments.

Both are part of your story.

What happened to you keeps its place in your history without getting to write what happens next.

Start With One Honest Sentence

The first honest sentence you send me is the same work we’ll be doing in session, so write that one.
